Baharat Spice Mix Recipe


Baharat, which means “spices” in Arabic, is a commonly used spice mix in Israeli cooking. It adds a rich dimension of flavor when cooking meats and poultry.

Mix the following ground ingredients and keep in an airtight container.

1 tbsp cardamom
1 tbsp ginger
½ tbsp nutmeg
1 tbsp black pepper
1 tbsp cinnamon
½ tbsp allspice*

*If you don’t have allspice on hand, you can make your own by combining 2 parts cinnamon with one part ground nutmeg and one part ground cloves.
